Hiking in Natz-Schabs
The alpine plateau Natz-Schabs in the Eisack Valley is a true paradise for hikers. Here you can walk, stroll, or enjoy hiking. There are marvellous places to take a break along the way, apple orchards, meadows, and biotopes. The best thing is that you can start most of the tours during your hiking holiday right from your front door. Family-friendly hiking areas such as Mount Plose and the hiking region Gitschberg-Jochtal are also just a few minutes away (by car). Would you rather conquer a mountain peak? No problem – because the surrounding mountains offer an immense variety of famous peaks, such as Radlsee or Peitlerkofel.

- Hiking on the Apple Trail - approx. 2 hours hiking across the apple plateau of Natz-Schabs to the lake Flötscher Weiher, Raier Moos, and the Laugen biotope
- Village tour from Natz to Viums - approx. 1.25 hours of hiking with an impressive view of the river Rienz and the Rodenegg Castle on the opposite side
- Circular village trail from Natz to the Laugen biotope - approx. 1.5 hours of hiking on the Natz-Schabs alpine plateau through orchards and past a wooden viewing platform
- Hike to Neustift - approx. 2 hours hiking via Raier Moos in Raas to the famous Neustift Monastery in the vineyards around Brixen
- Circular trail via Schabs to Brixen - approx. 4 hours of hiking along the river Eisack through the Riggertal and via Neustift to the episcopal city of Brixen
- Hike on the Archeo Trail - approx. 2.5 hours hiking from Brixen to Elvas on historical trails with finds of the Neolithic and Copper Age
Spring and autumn in Natz-Schabs
In spring, when the apple blossom begins, you may experience the awakening of nature on the alpine plateau of Natz-Schabs during the South Tyrolean Flower Weeks, an event that reaches its climax every year on May 1 at the Flower Festival. In autumn, when the apple harvest comes to an end, the traditional Apple Festival takes place, which is celebrated on the second Sunday in October with a festive parade and the election of the new Apple Queen.
